Mama Says Clothing swap!

Picture
Mama Says is hosting a clothing swap! In support of guilt free shopping, we will be taking gently used or new clothes (like those impulse buys or clothes your kids grew out of before they could wear them!) for our swap to be held on Saturday June 29th at the Unitarian Church on Main street. We are taking women's, men's, and children's clothing.

Collecting: We are collecting clothes in three locations: 1.) at the Montpelier Farmer's market on Saturday, June 1st. 2.) At our parent meet-up on June 3rd at Kellogg Hubbard and 3.) If you can't make either of those, or need more time to go through your closets, we will also be collecting clothes throughout the month of June on the porch of 19 Liberty Street, look for the smiley face on the telephone pole. We will take your name and the number of clothes you have dropped off, on the honor system. Please be sure that the clothes are clean, free of rips, tears or stains, and generally in good, wearable condition.

Swapping: On Saturday, June 29th we will open our doors to the Mama Says boutique at 10 am. For those of you who have dropped off clothes, we ask that you take the same amount of clothes that you have dropped off. We ask that adults donate $1 at the door to cover our costs of running the swap. If you were not able to drop any clothes off or if you'd like to swap more than you dropped, we will charge $2 per adult item and $1 per children's item.

If you can't make the drop or the swap, and would still like to participate or need an excuse to gut your closets, we have a consignment account with Women and Children First in Barre. Feel free to donate clothes there at any time, our number is M45 and we will receive 30% commission of the sale which will go to supporting our doula scholarships, community building, and our basic organizational costs.

If you are interested in volunteering with us for the swap, please let us know! You can email [email protected] . We will give you two free items for your time!

Happy swapping!

Maybe you are wondering where a good play space is for the kids on rainy days, or have questions about what your toddler is eating.  Perhaps you are new to parenthood and just need some community support or guidance from other parents.  All are welcome--whether you are a new parent, new to the area, or just looking to expand your community and tap into new resources. Monthly meetings are for mamas (and papas!) to meet, share ideas, advice and information about our kids, our central Vermont community, and each other.

Join us on the first Monday of every month (next one is June 3rd) for coffee, tea, snacks and good conversation in the Hayes Room of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library from 10-11:30am.

Although these meetings are mainly to offer parent support and community building, kids are always welcome! We'll have some kids toys there but feel free to bring more to share.

More pictures from our May meet up. thank you jen and angela for teaching us all songs and stories in spanish!
